Easily Sell Downloadable Products on Your Shopify Store

Sell digital products directly from your Shopify store without relying on additional apps. This MESA workflow identifies digital items in new orders, fulfills them automatically, and sends customers their download links. It also manages partial fulfillment for orders with both digital and physical products, ensuring a smooth and efficient process for you and your customers.

🔧  Setup is needed:
➕  Create a new fulfillment on your Shopify store
✏️  Configure a product's inventory settings

🗒️ Note:This template uses the Premium app, Email by MESA. Each time a Premium action is performed in a running workflow, one Premium credit is used. Learn more.

Follow the steps below to set up this workflow.

Step 1

If you've already set up digital products on your Shopify store, skip to Step 3.

From your Shopify Admin, click on Settings. 

Then, click on Shipping and delivery from the left hand sidebar.

Scroll all the way down until you see Custom order fulfillment. 

Click on Add fulfillment service. 

For the custom fulfillment service's Name, enter: Digital Download

For the Email, you can enter:  null@example.com

Step 2

From the Shopify Admin, click on Products. 

Then, create a new product or click to edit a new product.

From the product's page, scroll down to Inventory. 

Select " Digital Download" within the Inventory will be stocked at dropdown. 

Be sure to uncheck This is a physical product, under Shipping.

Save your changes on your product.

Step 3

Return to your MESA workflow and locate the Create Order Fulfillment step. 

Open it and locate the Location ID field. Click in the drop-down menu and select the Digital Download location.

Step 4

In the Email step, add the product's download link after the text Your order is ready for download at this link:.

Step 5

At the top of or below the workflow, click the Save changes button to save your changes.
